The ideal Content and Social Media Specialist will join our team in Washington, DC or remotely. As the newest addition to our direct to consumer house plans group, you’ll use your impressive writing skills and knowledge of digital content best practices to create and promote optimized blogs, marketing copy, and other creative needs on our sites and across social media.

In this role, you'll utilize our proprietary ecommerce platform and internal processes to fill a crucial content writing and social media marketing role. Working with our Director of Marketing and in tandem with our SEO Manager, you’ll produce a steady output of engaging and optimized blogs, articles, social media posts, catalogs, and other marketing materials that showcase dazzling home designs and drive users to continue exploring our sites. You will also manage our social media accounts across a variety of platforms and for multiple brands. Exceptional writing and organizational skills, along with knowledge of social media best practices and effective growth tactics, are key elements of success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Create optimized blog posts across our family of web sites, with guidance from our marketing team on SEO optimization and topic selection
  • Manage our social media presence across a variety of platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter), utilizing best practices and creativity to develop a growth plan
  • Manage paid social media campaigns, both internally and and on behalf of clients
  • Lead a weekly meeting reporting on progress to goals for blog and social media
  • Become the authority on what’s cool and next in the social media space around home design topics, and make recommendations for creating content to capture that interest
  • Assist with creating and editing a variety of other marketing items, such as digital plans catalogs, trend reports, product descriptions, and online copy

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Have 1-3 years of experience creating digital content
  • Have 1-3 years of experience managing social media (ideally including Pinterest) for a brand
  • Have 1-3 years of experience managing paid social media campaigns

Skills:

  • Very strong writing ability, especially around digital blog content
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Impressive organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines
  • Excellent understanding of social media best practices for brands, including managing paid advertisements, social media influencer relationships, and communicating with potential customers with professionalism and a consistent voice
  • Basic proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Excitement around home design and the housing industry in general (HGTV addicts welcome)

Education:

  • B.A in English, communications, journalism, or similar fields
